It just looks great! Never ever had I felt like watching a galactic struggle in open space. But seeing as your fleet consisting of dozen of armadas with different tasks (long/short range attack, pointr defence, carriers, indirect attacks, planted destroyers) battle with other similary numbered opponent is a thing to remember. I love combat: seeing your armadas with core battleships escorted by cruisers with frigates as recon ships is a pleasant but not awe inspiring view. The game is so complex that I cant say I understand everything, but for those three days I had more fun than ever playing GC2 or other 4X games.įrom todays perspective I consider third part as superior to both precedecors. But even though I spend more time reading the encyklopedia than clicking turns I didnt give up and whats more I wasnt bored by it. But last Friday I received copy of the game and armed with newset patch (1.2.5) and mod package (chocolate by pendix) I started playing. Yet for so many years I didnt even come near to the third part, knowing how it was welcomed by fans.
Since second game I've tried to play other 4X games(Galactic Civilizations 2 and expansions included) and none of them could suck me in more than MoO. I very much liked the first part, even more second one(I disliked combat - the precedessor had it done better, in specific I think stacking was much better way of resolving combat than issuing orders for individual ships). Since 1994 I've been a faithfull fan of Master of Orion series.
